1st XI beaten, 2nd XI match abandoned
Musselburgh 1st XI suffered their first league defeat of the season to Kismet at Duloch Park. Musselburgh lost the toss and were invited to bat.
The XI managed 110 runs all out off 30.3 overs with Captain Kevin Dilly top scoring with 42. Kismet in response knocked off the runs in 26.4 overs for the loss of only 1 wicket. The final margin of defeat 9 wickets.
The result drops the 1st XI down to 3rd in ESCA league division 3 and, with a home fixture against Preston Village at the weekend, the XI will be hoping to consign that result to the history books.
The 2nd XIs game against Boroughmuir 2nd XI at Lewisvale Park was eventually abandoned due to the weather in the 22nd over of the Musselburgh innings. At the time Musselburgh were 78 for 4, with Asim Ahmed not out on a brilliant 54.
The 2nd XI travel away to Glenrothes this weekend in the hope that the weather holds.

The 1st XI remain top of Division 3 having won all their games so far this season and go head to head with 3rd placed and Division 4 champions Kismet this Saturday at Kismet.

The Bank of Scotland won the toss and invited MCC to bat. MCC scored 150 for 7 of their allotted 20 overs with Captain Mark Tucker top scoring with and unbeaten 50. The 1st and 2nd XI continued their recent run of good form with victory in both division 3 and 6 at the weekend.
The XI, flying high in 1st position in division 3, took on 4th placed Drummond Trinity in a fixture that also doubled up as a round 2 cup tie of the Presidents Trophy. Drummond Trinity won the toss and invited Musselburgh to bat on the hottest day of the summer so far at Loretto. Musselburgh posted 245 all out after their 50 overs, Hemant Verma, shining this week with the bat, with a stunning 99, before being caught going for the ton off the last ball of the Musselburgh innings. Bhatkar contributed 48 before being trpped LBW and Captain Kevin Dilly chiped in with 30. In response Drummond Trinity were 180 all out off 42.5 overs, Rizwan (super) Ullah the pick of the Musselburgh attack with 3 wickets with Collins and Bhardwaj picking up a 2 a piece. A victory by 65 runs for Musselburgh in division 3 and progression in the Presidents Trophy.
Musselburgh 2nd XI played their first home league fixture of the season at Lewisvale Park against unbeaten Old Contemptibles CC. OCCC won the toss and invited Musselburgh to bat. On what was a gloriously sunny day at Lewisvale the Musselburgh batsman shone and posted a total of 230 for 4 of their 45 overs. 2nd XI number 1 batsman Asim Ahmed took advantage of the conditions to score a career best 78 and was ably assisted by opeing partner Rohit Maini who scored 52. Their opening partnership was worth 101 runs and there were further useful contributions from Howarth, 33 not out, Gatner, 27 and Chandwani, 23 not out. In response OCCC's were 118 all out, Akshay Chandwani the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets for 14 runs off 7 overs. Craighead and Benstead both picked up two wickets each in a 118 run victory for Musselburgh.

Drummond Trinity won the toss and invited Musselburgh to bat. Musselburgh posted 245 all out off their 50 overs, Hemant Verma, this week shining with the bat, scored a brilliant 99 before being caught off the last ball of the innings whilst trying to reach the magical 100. Bhatkar bludgeoned an impressive 48 and there was also a useful contribution of 30 from Captain Kevin Dilly.
In response Drummond Trinity posted 180 all out off 42.5 overs ensuring a comfortable 65 run victory for the 1st XI. Rizwan (super) Ullah was the pick of the Musselburgh bowlers taking 3 wickets for 27 runs off 10 overs. Rene Collins and Kamal Bhardwaj picked up 2 wickets a piece. The 1st XI retain there 100% record for the season so far and will be in confident mood for their next league fixture against West Lothian 2nd XI at Loretto this Saturday.
